The Archaeology section will accompany you all along this journey with a new category, "a bit of history" allowing you to understand each village’s context and themes. On a single site, the public will be able to go through five villages – Gallic, Gallo-Roman, Carolingian, Merovingian and Mediaeval – built recently respecting authentic methods. From the fortified churches of Thiérache to the ramparts of Rocroi, from the largest castle in Europe in Sedan to Mouzon Abbey, the Ardennes, a much-visited land steeped in history has a remarkable and diversified historical and architectural heritage. Montcornet, a little village in the Ardennes Valleys and Plateau area, has decided to go back through time. The future visitors will be able to discover – in a living and interactive way – the everyday lives of the people who lived in north-east France, from the time of the Gauls to the Middle Ages. The site will be animated by historical reconstitutions of local craftspeople and troops passing on the gestures and techniques of the past, on the one hand, while sharing the customs and life of yesteryear, on the other hand.
